The Saurashtra cricket team is one of the three teams from Gujarat (the other two being Gujarat and Baroda) that play in Indian domestic cricket. Saurashtra compete in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and other major competitions of India.
The team is governed by the Saurashtra Cricket Association and plays its home games at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Before Saurashtra, the region was represented by the likes of Nawanagar and Western India in domestic cricket.
Nawanagar won the Ranji Trophy in 1936–37 and were runners up in 1937–38. On the other hand, Western India won the Ranji Trophy in 1943–44. Saurashtra's journey in Ranji Trophy began in 1950-51 season. While Saurashtra struggled to do well in the first few decades, they have been a consistent side in the last one decade or so.
The Saurashtra cricket team finished runners-up in 2012–13, 2015–16 and 2018–19 seasons. They finally won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 2019-20 season with a win over Bengal. Later in 2022-23 season, Saurashtra won the tournament once again. They also won the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2007-08 and 2022-23 seasons.
