The Rajasthan cricket team represents the state of Rajasthan in Indian domestic cricket. The team is governed by the Rajasthan Cricket Association and plays its home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan cricket team was founded in the year 1928 was called Rajputana at that time. Rajputana's first recorded match was against Aligarh in the 1928-29 Delhi Tournament. Later in 1931, the Rajputana Cricket Association was established.
Rajputana's journey in first-class cricket began in November 1933 against the touring Marylebone Cricket Club at Mayo College Ground in Ajmer. Rajputana played in the Ranji Trophy for the first time in the 1935/36 season. The team registered its first win in first-class cricket in 1937 against Lionel Tennyson's touring eleven.
It registered its first Ranji Trophy win in the 1939/40 season with a win over Delhi. In 1956, the Rajputana cricket team was renamed to Rajasthan cricket team after the formation of the State of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan was one of the most consistent teams in the Ranji Trophy in the 1960s and early 1970s. From 1960-61 to 1973-74 season, the Rajasthan cricket team finished runners-up in the Ranji Trophy eight times.
The team finally won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 2010-11 season. It went on to defend the title in the 2011-12 season. The Rajasthan cricket team has also finished runners-up in the Vijay Hazare Trophy twice.
