दरअसल आईपीएल 2022 के 15वें सीजन में ये दूसरी बार है जब दो असफल टीमें एक-दूसरे के खिलाफ उतरी हैं. मुंबई इंडियंस का आईपीएल 2022 में सफर सिर्फ लीग स्टेज तक सीमित है. वहीं सीएसके लिए अभी भी आंकड़ों के अनुसार प्लेऑफ की रेस में पहुंचने की आखिरी सांस बाकी है. मैच शुरू होने से पहले दोनों टीमों के कप्तान टॉस के लिए वानखेड़े मैदान पर उतरे थे. सिक्का रोहित शर्मा के पक्ष में गिरा और उन्होंने गेंदबाजी का फैसला किया है. साथ ही इस बात की भी जानकारी दी कि आज के मैच में किरोन पोलार्ड (Kieron Pollard) शामिल नहीं होंगे.
उनकी जगह एक युवा खिलाड़ी को मौका दिया है. हालांकि आज ही के दिन यानी 12 मई को पोलार्ड का जन्म हुआ था. उनके इस बर्थडे पर मैनेजमेंट के फैसले से ज्यादा खुश नहीं दिखाई दे रहे हैं. उनका जन्म 1987 में हुआ था. लेकिन, आज उनके जन्मदिन पर ही मुंबई मैनेजमेंट ने उन्हें बाहर कर दिया है.
